Where to Rent a Car in Vicenza

file6751265831850So, you make it through the paperwork, the flight and have managed to settle into your cramped hotel room in Vicenza. There are so many things to get used to when you arrive, but if you are anything like I am all you can think about is getting some wheels so you can learn about your new city. Unless you shipped your car early, you probably have a few weeks without your POV. That leaves you with the options of using public transportation, walking or renting a car. There is nothing wrong with the first two, but most Americans are not used to living without a vehicle, so the third option is pretty attractive. Let’s talk about where to rent a car in Vicenza.

Get A SETAF Driver’s License First

First of all, you run to the lovely yellow in-processing building by the Ederle Inn and take a class for your driver’s license. Then take the test. If you are here because you are military, you need to have the SETAF Driver’s License before you drive a car on post. It doesn’t do a lot of good to have a car and then be forced to park it outside of post each time you visit post. Even worse if you are staying in the Ederle Inn for obvious reasons.

Car Rental Options

On Post Car Rental

Europacar is located outside of the PX and is the most convenient place for those who are staying at Ederle Inn to rent a car. They are used to dealing with military and understand English, for the most part. The downside of Europacar is that they are more expensive than some of the other car rental companies in Vicenza. The contact number for Europacar is 0444-505916.

Downtown Vicenza

As American’s, we are all pretty familiar with car rental agencies Hertz and Avis. If you need a car, it is pretty easy to hop on the bus and get off at the main station downtown. Both of these car rental places are downtown near the train and bus stations.

Hertz Car Rental is located on Piazzale Bologna, 23. You can phone them at 0444-231728.

Avis Car Rental is located at Viale Milano, 88. The phone number is 0444-321622.

Other Vicenza Locations

Buchbinder Car Rental is located near post at Via Roma 1 in Torri Del Quartesolo. Of all the rental places, this place has the reputation for being least expensive. The contact number for Buchbinder is 0444-389366.

A final option that I just learned  of recently, is Roberto Della Massara located at Via Quadri 83. Their contact number is  0444-507226. I have been told that they rent cars at reasonable rates and are less expensive than the car rental on post.

Hopefully, one of these companies can help you with temporary wheels before your POV arrives!
